On the sun-bleached grass of the city park That overlooks the bay, Sitting on a big blanket Two picnic tables down from a family reunion Are two old queens in nothing but shorts.
One pale white, one tanned - both heavy; Sunbathing like lazy cats in the afternoon heat.
Familiar and comfortable, nothing to prove, The way they lay down on their sides, facing each other Reminds me of young lovers, whispering about tomorrow.
What stories are they remembering, I wonder, And what are they feeling? I'd like to know If its love.
